Last week a group of our students and music teacher, Mr Coomber, presented to the trustees of the Sir William Turner Foundation. They spoke about the impact of the grant that we received from the foundation to purchase industry-standard sound and lighting equipment. The students spoke about the difference the equipment made in the recent production of the School of Rock, how it will be used in the future and how students taking GCSE drama can learn new production skills by utilising the mixing desk, microphones and lighting.
The Sir William Turner Foundation originates from the charitable bequest of Sir William Turner in his will of 1692, which led to the establishment of the Free School at Kirkleatham in 1709. The Foundation makes annual grants to the college and secondary schools in Redcar to support activities that fall outside the standard curriculum. Grants may include educational visits and equipment and support for student learning that does not qualify for regular curriculum funding.
Thank you to the Sir William Turner Foundation for our grant - we can not wait to use the equipment in our up and coming Student President inauguration and next year's school production of Matilda!
