This morning students, parents, and carers together with members of Rye Hills staff nervously waited for our first set of externally-set exams for two years. We needn’t have worried with the hall buzzing with laughter, smiles and big hugs. We are delighted with our students’ results - well done, Year 11!

The school has made gains in almost all subject areas since the last set of verified exam results in 2019. This is a great foundation upon which to build as our school continues on our journey towards outstanding.

Speaking of the results our Headteacher, Claire Ellis, said:

"It was wonderful to see so many students excited about the next part of their journey to college, apprenticeships and employment and to know that the dedication of our staff, the hard work and determination of students, and the  endless support of parents and carers has resulted in such personal success."

We are proud of the achievements of all our wonderful students but there are several students whose hard work and resilience led to an exceptional set of results:

Jamie Winspur - grade 9 in history, biology, English language, English literature and drama. In all other subjects, Jamie was awarded grade 8. Jamie said he was, ‘ecstatic, excited and exhilarated’. Jamie is off to study biology, chemistry and English at A-level.

Harvey Unthank - 9 in maths, 8s in all his other subjects.

Lucy Caddick - 9 in history and English lang,8 in Lit, 7 in all other subjects.

Finley Wardle - 9 in biology, physics and maths; 8s and 7s in all the other subjects. Finley said his results were ‘amazing’ and is looking forward to studying maths, further maths, chemistry and physics at A-level.

Libby Sherrington - 9 in history, English lang and drama, 8 in PE, 7 in all of her other subjects. Libby said her results were simply, ‘class’ and is excited to be heading off to Middlesborough college to study performing arts.

Jayden Heanan - 9 in English language and maths, 8s in computer science, literature, physics and geography.

Jamie Frost - 9 in biology, 8s in history, chemistry, physics and English.  All other subjects were at a grade 7.

Our Year 11s have had a turbulent two years and, as we celebrate their wonderful exam results today, we also congratulate and recognise them for so much more. They are kind, hardworking, dedicated, determined and generous.

Well done; we are extremely proud of you! Here’s to your bright futures!
